With a family history in the jewellery trade, Kate grew up around rolling mills and jewellery tools, watching her dad work with his hands in his studio. A subtle pulse was created and over time a fascination began with metallurgy and the ability to manipulate metal with heat and tools, endlessly able to be reworked as long as it meets the flame.
Worldwide travels fueled a deep appreciation for ancient metalsmithing techniques and their role in storytelling, particularly through the American Southwest, Mexico, and Colombia. One of Kate's first bolo ties was made in Miami at a studio wrokshop. it was the beginning of a great love for the interesting challenge it presented her: Remaining loyal to the overall design but having the freedom within the individual parts to explore endless possibilities. It reminded her a lot of life. The harmonizing of opposites, desert landscapes and Beton Brut architecture influence her design style continually.
Kate's passion comes from a love of seeing the transformation from raw metal to body adornment. Designing in geometry that speaks of unique journeys and adventures whilst forging in the creative poetic presence in every piece.
