Kate Caicedo

Kate grew up playing around rolling mills and jewellery tools, watching her dad hand set gemstones and engrave emblems in his art studio. A subtle pulse was created and over time her own fascination began with the alchemy of forging raw metal into beautiful objects.

Worldwide travels fuelled a deep appreciation for traditional metalsmithing techniques by hand and their role in cultural storytelling particularly through the jewellery art of the Native tribes of the American North and South West and Mexico and the ancient intricate beauty of Greek, Celtic and Egyptian craftsmanship.

A playful expression began, exploring desert landscapes and the adventurous spirit of the bolo tie as a unique jewellery piece, embodied with self expression and legacy. This personal commitment to unique design and the necessary pushing out of boundaries is influenced by brutalist architects such as Le Corbusier, Ricardo Bofil and Carlo Scarpa, art-deco design and the unique stories and lives of her clients.

Moments in enchantment and journeys with Muses have inspired her collections of handcrafted jewellery in beautiful metals of gold, silver and bronze. The art of translating a story into geometry that speaks quietly yet boldly is a continuing passion of Kate's that she loves to share.
